To say that 2020 has been a crazy year of both ups and downs would be a huge understatement. We dealt with (and are still dealing with) a global pandemic, were introduced to social distancing and had one of the wildest Presidential elections of our lifetime. But, as they always say, “it can’t rain forever.”
What started off as a pretty bad year, is actually starting to look like it will be ending on a high note. Along with a new President Elect (Thank GOD for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris!), the one thing that has been consistently good has been the wave of new music from our favorite artists. And thankfully, one of those artists is none other than Samantha Mumba.
The 37 year old Irish born singer has always been one of the most fascinating artists to me. Mumba quickly rose to fame in 2000 with her debut album Gotta Tell You. The pop perfection album spawned several hit singles including the chart topping “Gotta Tell You,” and the infectious dance track “Baby Come On Over,” which even earned the singer a Grammy Award nomination.
But after the release of her mega successful first album, the “Lately” singer seemed to take a break from the music industry. Fast forward to 20 years later and Samantha is ready to make us fall in love with her sound all over again. Earlier today, Mumba announced her highly anticipated new single, “Cool.” The track will be released on Friday, November 27th.
While we don’t know much about the track yet, we do know that the singer has been working with with the team of writers and producers. It was previously reported that Mumba has been in the studio with Wayna Morris (Boyz II Men) and MNEK (Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, Madonna, and Litle Mix) on her new material.
It is a bit of a shock to think that Mumba has only had one album to date – 2000’s Gotta Tell You – but it did give us classic bangers like Body II Body, Always Come Back To Your Love, Baby Come Over, and of course that brilliant title track.
