My Morning Skincare Routine With Fenty Skin

Good Morning, Pooter! You’re looking dapper!

I think the way we start our day is very important! I like to wake up early. Even if I was up late the night before, I still try to get up as early as I can to really enjoy my morning. I wake up, check my phone, make a cup of coffee (no dairy, of course!) and go over my to-do list for the day.

But my favorite part of my morning is my skincare routine. I think that starting off your day and washing your face is the most amazing feeling. You’re washing away the stress of the day before and starting the new day with a fresh new outlook and state of mind.

I have to admit, I’m very lazy when it comes to skincare routines. I don’t like skincare routines that require a lot of steps and products because I find it hard to keep up with those kinds of regiments. So, I was so happy when I got to try the new products from Fenty Skin! The skincare line is Rihanna’s latest venture into the world of beauty and I was so excited to try everything from her line. As you guys know, I am a huge fan of Fenty Beauty so I was beyond ecstatic to try her newest products.

Check out my morning skincare routine below!

Total Cleans’r Remove It All Cleanser

The Total Cleans’r Remove It All Cleanser is a two-in-one wash that breaks down and removes makeup, along with dirt and oil. Its mess-free twist top disperses an even squeeze of product that prevents me from using too much when I wash my face. I only need to combine about a pea-size amount with water to quickly work up a lather that coats my entire face. I tested the product with and without makeup, and my skin felt exactly the way you hope to feel after a good cleanse—squeaky clean and happy. The Total Cleans’r Remove It All Cleanser hasn’t left me with a zit yet and doesn’t make my skin feel stripped or tight once it’s rinsed off, which are two of the most important aspects of a cleanser for me and my combination skin. It also smells so good, thanks to the inclusion of Barbados cherry, a fruit from the star’s native country.

Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum

When I first read the name of this product, Fat Water, I didn’t believe it would actually be as lightweight as it is, but its consistency really is just like water. Fat Water is a refreshing second step in the Fenty skin-care routine, and I really enjoy pressing it into my skin after squeezing a few drops into the palm of my cupped hand. At first glance the serum appears to have a peachy tone, but out of the bottle, it’s totally clear. Although it’s packed with ingredients like niacinamide and vitamin C (by way of Barbados cherry), it doesn’t feel sticky on my hands or face once it’s applied, unlike other serums I’ve used. This one glides across my skin with little effort and absorbs super quickly. I think it’ll take a few more weeks of testing to be 100 percent sure, but I’ve noticed a slight improvement so far in the appearance of my existing dark spots, and the brightness of my overall complexion. You guys, she’s glowing!

Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen

Of all the products in the Fenty Skin collection, the oil-free Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen is probably the closest to my heart, since I live for a good moisturizer sunscreen combo. As a woman of color, I already knew that Rihanna would be hyper-aware of the unsightly white sunscreen cast often left behind on darker skin tones. The Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen starts off with a pinkish tone in the palm of my hand—usually two to three pumps of product does the trick—but quickly turns invisible once it’s rubbed onto my face. Its formula is weightless and sheer but still makes me feel like my skin is being protected against damaging UV rays once I step outside.

While non-greasy and practically invisible are hard features for a moisturizing sunscreen to top, this one takes it a step further by being eco-friendly too, which makes me enjoy using it even more. In addition to the sunscreen’s outer packaging being recyclable, it’s also refillable, and its formula is made without oxybenzone, a chemical known to be harmful to oceanic wildlife, including the coral reefs. Just like Fat Water, the Hydra Vizor also contains niacinamide, plus aloe and hyaluronic acid for a quick, dewy hydration boost.
