If you’re a coffee lover like me, you’ll agree that coffee is one of the greatest inventions of all time.
The smell and taste of fresh coffee is my favorite smell in the morning. But did you know that caffeine is also great for your skin? Cellulite’s #1 enemy is caffeine? Coffee tightens and provides antioxidants to the skin when applied topically. When applied religiously, it has been shown to reduce the appearance of cellulite—especially over time. Here, we combine coffee grounds with moisturizing, skin-soothing coconut oil and a bit of sea salt for an extra exfoliating kick. By massaging this trifecta onto any problem area, you’ll stimulate blood flow resulting in smoother, firmer skin. Plus, it doesn’t smell too bad either.
Coffee Benefits for Skin
The sand-like texture of coffee grounds makes a great exfoliant in homemade scrubs. The grounds work to gently remove dead skin cells, which helps to rejuvenate and boost circulation. (Hello, youthful, glowing, silky-smooth skin!) Exfoliants can also plump and tighten, helping to temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite.
- 1 c coffee grounds
- 6 tbsp coconut oil
- 3 tbsp sea salt or sugar
- empty jar
- dry brush (optional)
- Melt coconut oil and allow it to cool but not solidify.
- Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container or mason jar.
- Use 1-2 times a week (or every day if you like).
Bonus: Invest in a dry brush! Because it also exfoliates and gets lymph and blood moving, it has also been touted as a cellulite combatant. Brush and scrub those dimples away!
