Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” Makes Its Earliest Chart Debut Ever

Make her wish come true!

Mariah Carey is on a mission to get her holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” to #1. She re-released the music video with new footage, re-released her Xmas album, Merry Christmas, as a deluxe edition and stars in a holiday campaign for Walker’s Crisps and starts her All I Want For Christmas Is You Tour this week. Mimi is determined to land her 19th chart topper, and she’s on track to do it, honey!

According to Billboard“All I Want For Christmas Is You” just made its earliest chart debut since they reconfigured the rules in 2012. It slides into the Hot 100 at #39.

To give this perspective, last year “All I Want For Christmas Is You” re-entered the charts at No. 29 on the charts dated Dec. 1, 2018. That week it drew 14.4 million streams, vs. this week’s 15.2 million.

One of two things could happen:

  • People will tire from hearing it sooner than expected and cause a lull in the song’s climb to the top, or…
  • It gives “All I Want For Christmas Is You” several extra weeks of momentum.

The song also peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 last year so this could be Mariah’s year for another chart topper!
