“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet.”
SO EXCITED to finally be able to share my website with you guys! I have been working on this project for a few months and I really wanted to get it right and make it something special.
Creating a website is always such a fun and liberating experience. It’s a melting pot of ideas and emotions and the whole thing is
very exciting. Ever since I created my first website (Dean-Kelly) with my friends back in 2009, I had this insatiable hunger to be creative and to work on projects that truly made me happy.
The hardest part about putting together a website is definitely picking a name for it. It’s almost like naming a baby. I’ve never had a baby
BUT if I had to guess, I would think it was a lot liking this. No? Okay, anyways, back to how I picked a name for this website. I sat down with a pen and paper (vintage, I know) and sipped on coffee while I thought of hundreds of different names for my website. I literally just scribbled down whatever names popped up into my head. Some of them were good and some of them didn’t really make any sense. One day, after hours of different name combinations, The Spice Girls’ “Spice Up Your Life” started playing on my Spotify. I suddenly felt this jolt of happiness coarse through my body and my heart started fluttering. It brought me back to the third grade when I was OBSESSED with The Spice Girls.

It probably sounds cheesy but I started thinking about how fun pop culture, fashion and music was then. I’m somebody who mostly listens to older music that new music, so a lot of the songs on my playlist bring back fun memories and vibes that make me so happy. And just like that, I wrote two words in all caps on the piece of paper, “GINGER” and “POSH.” And, I thought to myself, “This is the name for my new website!”
Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) were two of my favorite Spice Girls. I loved how their styles were so different but still so powerful and so cool. I also loved what the words meant on their own.
